Playtime

The cooler weather didn't stop the boys from getting some hockey practice in. Ry is really good at hitting the ball with the hockey stick - a fun surprise for us, as this is a sport they don't practice much!
Ryan is LOVING our latest garage sale find -- roller skates. When we showed them to him, he jumped up and down singing "Ryan got skates! Ry got skates! WhooHoo!" We were pretty shocked by his excitement, considering he'd never expressed any interest or knowledge about skates! Think it's time to pull out the bicycle helmet...

Potty Training

SOMEDAY, we will achieve this!!
The other day, I went to put Ry on the potty and he jumped off, turned around and said "no Mommy, like this!" (as he faced forward) "Just like Charlie!" (his friend from Kid's First who apparently made a potty impression on our little guy!)

Exciting Outdoors

Ryan heard the sound of a lawn mower/weed whip this morning outside and had to check it out. Of course, baby sister wanted to see what all the excitement outside was about too!

Tubtime...

Here is some evidence of our serious addiction to cheez-its. If you look closely, you'll see both kids are currently munching here..
Also, look closely here and you will see Julia's roseola rash. The kids love to be in the tub together. Ryan is into having his little fish toys "swim" around and make splashes and big waves in the water, and Julia thinks that Ryan is just about the funniest guy on the planet.

Yumm...

Yum..I love cheez-its as much as my big brother! =)

Welcome Spring!

We are LOVING this warm weather! Ry might just live outside if we let him. He loves riding his bike around our cul-de-sac and collecting rocks and putting them in the little "trunk" on his bike. We've also been taking the stroller out for a spin often lately!

Making Friends

Tonight there were a bunch of kids playing in the driveway across the street. Ryan found a quarter on the floor and went over to the window shouting out, "Hey, kids! Hi! Hi! I have money. Do you want money?" Should we be concerned he's already trying to "buy" his friends at the ripe ol'age of 3? =)

Mr. Turtle

We had a really fun weekend. Stacy came in town from New York and so we got to hang out with her quite a bit, which the kids, especially Ryan, LOVED.

Jeff and I forgot Ry's jacket at church, and when we drove back to get it we found this turtle in the road and brought it back (I didn't touch it, of course!!)..so JEFF brought it back to his parent's house for Ry to see. It was a big hit. =)

Serious Train Playing

At the Harriss house, we are very serious about our train playing. (Ok, so Ryan is very serious, and Jeff will deny any interest, but I have found him many nights putting together new track layouts long after Ryan has been asleep!) Julia even enjoys hanging out around the train table, and Ryan is learning to be patient with her as she sometimes gets excited and tears a piece of track off the table. I am proud to say that today when she did this he simply looked at me with a VERY annoyed look rather than knocking her to the ground. =)

Rub A Dub, Two Kids In A Tub!

Both the kids LOVE bath time. I think it is going to be a very fun summer swimming!

Julia's 1st Haircut

Today I brought Julia to get her first haircut. She was a bit apprehensive at first, but after she realized she'd get to sit and eat a granola bar with little chocolate chunks in it and everyone in the salon would walk by adoring her, I think she liked being pampered!

Hippety-Hoppity

Wow - I can't believe that this is Ryan's 4th Easter and Julia's 2nd! We have been trying to tell Ryan what Easter is really all about, but I think he's way more interested in the candy aspect of this holiday. Our little boy just can't seem to get enough chocolate. He may look just like his daddy, but he must have mommy's taste buds! =)

We spend Easter morning brunching at Jeff's parents house (aka Grandma and Big Truck Papa) with Uncle Patrick and Aunt Crystal and then we went in the afternoon to my parent's house (aka Glamma and Train Papa) where Ry had a blast playing with the other kids. He was very upset actually, when we told him he needed to stop playing trains for a bit to participate in the Easter egg hunt...a TOTAL waste of time, in his opinion, when there is good train playing to be had.

RUN!

The "RUN!" game is a favorite around here. Basically the kids just run circles (Julia gets a little help running, of course..her favorite spot seems to be on Daddy's shoulders where she gets the best view!) around the main floor of the house and try and catch each other. At times we stop and hide along the way. I never thought such a simple game would produce so much laughter, but it sure is a hit with the under 3 crowd!

Colorful Eggs

Today Glamma, Aunt Krista and Baby Tyler came over to dye Easter eggs and have lunch with us.

Ryan wanted to write "Ryan" on EVERY egg. We only had one egg "casualty" and after that Ry would say "Careful! Very very careful!!" as he was handling the eggs.

Baby Tyler and Julia had more fun crawling around and looking out the windows than participating in our festive activity.

Mexico Mission Trip

Jeff and I had the awesome opportunity to go on a mission trip to Mexico on March 3-8th. We helped spread the word about an upcoming marriage retreat and also held small groups in the evenings where the adults watched a movie about a guy who experienced awesome life change after learning about Jesus and the kids heard a Bible story and were able to do fun crafty things like coloring, playdough, face painting, balloon shapes, glow sticks, etc.
