1st day
J's first day of preschool!
I had to wake sleeping beauty up to get her there, and we were still 10 minutes late!
She had a good report from her teacher, minus a pushing issue. When I asked her about it: "They needed it!"

Kindergarten, Day 1
Despite the earlier confusion, Ry made it on the right bus.
And to the school where he excitedly jumped off!
And he managed to find his locker and fantastic teacher.
And the three buddies made the bus ride home. Ry jumped off and said, "That was a great bumpy ride! Let's do it again!!"

Prelude to Kindergarten
1:30ish am - Irresponsibly, Jeff and I head to bed.
3:22 am - Ryan enters our room and tells me his eyes won't shut because he is SOOO excited to get to go to kindergarten. I walk him back to his own bed.
4:36 am - Ryan comes back to our room again and tells me he has been trying VERY hard but his eyes just will NOT shut because he is too excited. I go lay in his room with him.
5:19 am - Ryan asks me to rub his back to help him sleep. I am a very desperate woman at this point.
5:45 am - Julia screams "Mommy" from her room. I quietly exit my (sleeping!!?!) boys room and go snatch her out of her crib and deposit her in our bed by daddy...who has somehow (!!?!!!) managed to sleep through all the chaos.
5:50 am - I very deliriously take up camp downstairs on the couch. I say deliriously, because I really wasn't thinking straight at this point. I am not kidding - when I looked at the clock it actually crossed my mind that maybe I should just head to the Y at this point because at least I could snag a workout.
6something am - Julia and Jeff come downstairs. I pretend to be asleep. He immediately puts on the Cinderella DVD for her. I open my eyes, and he gives me a desperate "WHY is she up at this hour?!" look. I shrug, and head up to our now empty bed.
7:15 am - My alarm clock goes off. I hit snooze several times.
7:45 am - I jump in the shower.
8:20 am - Struggle to wake up our deeply sleeping kindergartener. I dress him while he is still in an unconscious state. Jeff jumps in shower.
8:30 am - The excited grandma's arrive to watch our little guy board the school bus. They get Ry breakfast and get Julia dressed.
8:40 - We walk outside to wait for the bus.
Can you tell no one really slept last night!?!
For the record, this is NOT his bus. It did come at nearly the same time his is scheduled to arrive. And thank goodness lack of sleep didn't affect him as it did his momma, because I nearly put him on here. He was saying "Mom, these kids look really old! They don't look like my friends!" Whoops..a quick check with the bus driver revealed I was sending him to the junior high. I mean, I know he's very smart and all...hehe.
More on day #1 tomorrow... really really too tired to keep going on this post! =)

Welcome to Preschool!
Today was the first day of preschool for the kids. Somehow, this was the best photo I got that morning. (What a Kodak moment, huh? But I suppose it does represent "real" life! Lucas (1) was mad about being put down for the photo, Ry (4) was trying to cheer him up, Tyler (2) was obediently standing still for a pic, and Julia(2) was giving me the diva look about being asked to pose for a pic). Julia and Tyler are in the same class, which I am super excited about for them to get to spend this time together!
After dropoff, we moms decided to spend the first bit of our free time enjoying breakfast at Cracker Barrel down the street!

Last Day of Preschool 2009
Look at that precious face. (Mrs. Gwen is cute, but I'm talking about Julia!) She has no idea when we leave today it will be the last time for a long time!!
Mrs. Amanda and Izzy pose for a pic while Ryan tries to figure out how he can get that balloon away from Izzy for himself!
Mrs. Kelle, Ryan, Izzy, and Mrs. Amanda.
Um, I'm thinking Ry has worked his charm for a balloon
from that man standing in the background.
Izzy is nice, but she's no pushover. =)

Preschool Valentine's Day
The kids gave their school friends fortune cookies with a note attached that said "I'm so FORTUNate you are my friend!"
Our kids are very into these cookies lately. "Read me the note inside!" Ry will tell us. Then when we read it to him, he usually cheers. It's so funny. I wish I had written down his last one, because it made no sense, and Ryan was jumping up and down clapping like it was the best news ever.

When we got home from school, the kids wanted to play outside. I thought it might be a great idea to let them burn off the extra sugar they consumed today by doing just that. Look how excited Julia is to see her shadow! (And how BIG my baby is getting!! She almost looks like a little girl here, doesn't she?!)
Does this seem a bit dangerous to anyone else?

To Worry, Or Not To Worry?
When I went to pick up the kids from preschool this afternoon, Ryan's teacher was waiting in the hallway for me. She wanted to talk to me about some artwork that they did today, and she was concerned about Ry's performance.
She had made this penguin (left) and given the kids the "parts" to the penguin to try and recreate it. The right photo is what Ry came up with. Understandably, she was concerned. She did show me some of the other kid's work, and by far, my little guys was the "worst" rendering of a penguin.
Some days (I wish more often than actually happen though), I do a little workbook with him while Julia naps. In my panic, I pulled it out this afternoon, and while he was working in it, I cut out some pieces to a ship to see how well he was able to recreate it. Mine is the left. His is the right. He did much better with this, but I am not sure why. I was sitting right next to him, and I did help him put the glue on the paper. But he did all the placement and drew his own circles and smoke. She had made this penguin (left) and given the kids the "parts" to the penguin to try and recreate it. So, do I worry about this?!?

Preschool Christmas Parties
Julia enjoys her party -- and the sprinkle and chocolate covered rice crispies! What more could a girl want?
Hanging with her friends. Her "boyfriend" Asher is seated to the right of her.
Ryan is excited to open his present from the gift exchange.
Charlie runs over to show Ryan what he got, and Ry shares his goods with Charlie.

Dancing King Returns!
Julia and Ms. Dawn hold up one finger as they say the 1st commandment: Thou shall have no other gods before me.
And another video of Mr. Hollywood. The classes at preschool take turns rotating to lead the music/worship portion of school. I had to stick around this morning to get some video of our little guy back in action! I hope he never loses this spirit!!
The boy in the black shirt to the left during most of the video is Cole, who apparently does not like music time. Then beside him is Gavin. Ry talks often about his friend Gavin, I really need to schedule a playdate with his mom! (Ok, actually, I don't know much about him...except for Ry likes to play cars at school with him and every time we see the letter "G" Ry tells me it is Gavin's name). Then there is Ry (of course!), and next to him is Izzy, (whom you have seen in previous posts from playdates).

Thanksgiving Parties at Preschool
Today the kids celebrated Thanksgiving at Kid's First. I stuck around for the fun. =)
Ryan's class practices their song for the Christmas show. Ry's friend Gavin is to the right of him. When I ask him about the letter "G" he tells me, "That is Gavin."..but he won't tell me what letter it is.
Ryan and Cole wait their turn in line to suck up water in a turkey baster, carry it across the room and dump it into another bowl. Who would have EVER thought this was such fun?! The kids sure thought so!!!
The class does the "hokey pokey" with Turkey lyrics. Ryan thinks this is hilarious!
Ry and Charlie are prepared for number turkey Bingo.
Later, when they returned to the classroom and Ms. Gwen asked who they need to be thankful to for their food, Julia shouted out "n-d-ands!!" (Indians).
