Life With A Boy

December 3, 2007 - Today I had my first glimpse of what life with a little boy is really going to be like. We went to the YMCA this morning so Ryan could get all his jumping energy out on the trampoline and then we came home for lunch and naptime. I put Ry at the kitchen table with some lunch, and told him to stay in his seat and eat his lunch while I ran up to put Julia down for her nap. While I was upstairs, I did hear him jump down from his chair, and then heard some banging. I assumed he’d climbed back up and was banging his hands on the table as he likes to do (all boy!). Well, moments later, I hear a crash of glass breaking. I ran downstairs to find my little boy sitting at the table in his “special” chair holding a plastic whiffel ball bat. He apparently was swinging at the chandelier and had great aim. So after he told me “I broked it, mommy.” I had him apologize to me for breaking the light, and gave him a little lesson of “this is why we don’t swing bats at light fixtures!” and “it is okay, I forgive you because we should love people and not things.” I actually think he was shocked when the light broke. Guess this is his first real lesson on breakables…oh, except for the picture frame he also broke last week while driving his trucks along the table behind the sofa. =) Let the fun begin!
