A Day Out With Thomas

Today we brought the kids to "A Day Out With Thomas" event down by the Mississippi River. We were able to buy tickets to ride the train -- something Ry has been excited about for over a month now! Taking this photo was a small nightmare...it has made me already begin to dread the task of trying to get the kids both to look at the camera and smile for our Christmas photo this year! Jeff took half a dozen or so, and in each of them, one of the kids was turned around looking at Thomas, grabbing for me, or trying to step off this platform. Good times...AUGH! =)
Another perfect example why I dread that Christmas photo session this year!
Our little guy just was NOT wanting to have his photo taken today...or many days!
Not a great photo, but we are all semi-looking in the same direction!!
Look at my cutie princess (and hubby!)! What great eyes you have, my dear! =)Our little Thomas fan, taking it all in, deep in thought right when we arrive to the grounds.
When Jeff asked Ry his favorite part of the day, he said "The stories." Crazy, huh? Considering we read LOTS of stories about Thomas here! He was so intent on listening to this lady read he even walked in the tent and swiped a front row seat, and answered her questions throughout the storytime.
They had a "carwash" that both kids really enjoyed running through.
The kids also rode a little train that was pulled by the James engine. I think they loved this one more than riding the big Thomas train!!

After the event, we decided to try out Roma's Pizza in Bethalto. It is a place Jeff has been wanting to try out for quite a while now. We give it about 6 stars out of 10. Fortell's is probably still our family favorite! However, Jeff did give the soda a thumbs up..something about drinking soda from those plastic pizza place tumblers. =)
